Did you know that the average adult in the United States, receives 41 pounds of junk mail every year?!! And that’s just the junk mail. Add catalogs, magazines, newspapers, and multiple versions of yellow page phone books. Add bills and bank statements.
Last August I tried a website that promised to help me turn the junk spigot off.
I filled out a simple form, donated $8 and soon received a packet of postcards all addressed and ready to mail. I signed them, stamped them and sent them out to the seven or eight movers and shakers of the junk mail world. Within two month my junk mail had almost completely disappeared. I received no more credit card offers, no extra yellow pages directories, and only the catalogs I had specified that I wanted to continue to receive.
It didn’t get rid of my bills (darn it), but it sure cut down on the rest of the stuff.
